چکیده

In these last years the applications involving 3D data are quickly increasing in number and many efforts to obtain 3D models by direct acquisition or modeling have been deployed. Additionally, the computer graphics power reached by personal computers and Internet have incremented the diffusion of this new media. For these reasons, the interest in developing techniques to provide IPR protection of 3D models is increasing. Watermarking technology has been successfully used for this purpose for other kinds of media such as images and video, but, a lot of work is again necessary to reach robustness and industrial applicability for 3D watermarking algorithms. In this paper we treat a specific aspect of 3D watermarking technology: the visual quality of the watermarked models. In particular, after a panoramic on 3D watermarking technology we present some ideas about this issue and we propose a method based on multiresolution analysis to improve this aspect in future watermarking algorithms.

Introducing Capacity Surface to Estimate Watermarking Capacity

One of the most important parameters in evaluating a watermarking algorithm is its capacity. Generally, watermarking capacity is expressed by bits per pixel (bpp) unit measure. But this measure does not show what the side effects would be on image quality, watermark robustness and capacity. In this paper we propose a three dimensional measure named Capacity surface which shows the effects of ca...

Watermarked 3D Object Quality Assessment

This work concerns the developing of new perceptual metrics for 3D watermarking quality assessment. Any watermarking algorithm, to be effective, requires that the distortions it inevitably introduces into the watermarked media is imperceptible. This requirements is particularly severe for watermarking of 3D objects where the visual quality of the original model has to be preserved, i.e. the vis...

A comparative study of digital watermarking in JPEG and JPEG 2000 environments

JPEG 2000 is a new compression technology that achieves very high compression rate and maintains visual quality. Digital watermarking techniques have been developed to protect the copyright of media signals. The goal of this paper is to put into perspective joint photographic experts group (JPEG) and JPEG 2000 concepts a long with watermarking principle. It provides evaluation of the compatibil...

Camera Arrangement in Visual 3D Systems using Iso-disparity Model to Enhance Depth Estimation Accuracy

In this paper we address the problem of automatic arrangement of cameras in a 3D system to enhance the performance of depth acquisition procedure. Lacking ground truth or a priori information, a measure of uncertainty is required to assess the quality of reconstruction. The mathematical model of iso-disparity surfaces provides an efficient way to estimate the depth estimation uncertainty which ...

A Curvature-Tensor-Based Perceptual Quality Metric for 3D Triangular Meshes

Perceptual quality assessment of 3D triangular meshes is crucial for a variety of applications. In this paper, we present a new objective metric for assessing the visual difference between a reference triangular mesh and its distorted version produced by lossy operations, such as noise addition, simplification, compression and watermarking. The proposed metric is based on the measurement of the...
